This is a story about a chef that did everything the right way. No shortcuts. Graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Worked his way through the biggest kitchens in the world. Le Bernardin in NY. Embassy Suites Hotel. The Beverly Hilton.
Yet he ended up on the streets. But this was a good thing, because then he went down a different road.
With his partners, Roy created a nationwide gourmet food truck movement with Kogi. Food that people had never seen before. Flavors they’d never tasted. Inventive, fearless recipes representing the best of his favorite LA neighborhoods. As a result, Roy was named “Best New Chef” by Food & Wine magazine in 2010.
Now he’s on a mission. To make a difference. To bring more flavor and better ingredients to the world. In wild combinations that honor the origins of the streets and the Kogi flavors. All with big heart, big visions, humble grind, and honest intentions.
In addition to the red-hot Kogi brand, Roy also runs several successful restaurants. Chego!, A-Frame, Commisary, POT and LocoL.
